Spotlight on SARO The Musical in today's Guardian Newspaper
A SELECT and eminent Lagos audience was treated to a scintillating preview of Nigeria’s first indigenous music drama at Terra Kulture, Victoria Island. Until recently music drama has been imported to Nigeria. Dance drama is what has been the norm on the local scene. But starting from next month, Bolanle Austen-Peters (BAP) Production will cause what is effectively a music drama revolution in a production that is conceived to compete favourably with America’s Broadway Musicals. On hand at the unveiling and preview were some of Nigeria’s great theatre, culture and literary personalities. The long list was led by Lagos State Commissioner for Culture and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Mr. Disu Holloway, respected thespian, Taiwo Ajayi-Lycett, silver screen star, Joke Silver, culture advocate, journalist and impresario, Mr. Ben Tomoloju and Tuface Idibia, another screen star, Kate Henshaw, radio star, Yaw-Yaw and Prof. Ahmed Yerima.
